These are photos of a World War One era C96 Mauser pistol. Because of the shape of the pistol grip they were nicknamed the Broomhandle Mauser. Originally chambered for the 7.63x25mm Mauser cartridge, this one was made in 9x19mm for the German Army during World War One. These were marked with a red number 9 on each grip so the shooter would use the correct type of ammunition.
